30 for 30 Swordplay Challenge 2019!

Devon Boorman ·

With the new year nearly upon us, it's time for the sixth annual 30 for 30 Swordplay Challenge!
On January 2nd, join hundreds of martial arts practitioners from around the world in a swordplay and European martial arts training challenge!

The Challenge

Practice 30 minutes each day for the next 30 days. This can include your current training or be over and above what you normally do.
This is an opportunity to help set a new habit in 2019 with the support of your peers. Set a personal goal and share it with the members of our 30 for 30 Swordplay Challenge Facebook group. Members of Academie Duello, the DuelloTV community and from throughout the Historical European Martial Arts community will be there to support you and cheer you on!

What Do You Do?

  1. Join the challenge Facebook group, read the instructions, and post your introduction as a comment on the Welcome announcement.
  2. Look for the daily challenge posts. Add a training report each day to let us know that you're on track!
  3. Read the posts of others, share your support, and help keep everyone on board during the challenge.
  4. Train!

How to Stay On Track?

I'll be posting some advice throughout the challenge, but a few thoughts to get started:
Join in! It's fun and motivating.
Come on your own terms. Set a challenge that you believe you can keep. Don't be over-ambitious. You can always up the ante if things are going awesome by day 15.
Get some local encouragement. Have some training mates join you. Schedule times with them or just make it a regular in-person check-in. Online is great, but in person can be even better.
Make a plan. Having a default plan for how you'll do your training each day can make it much more of a no-brainer. This year I'm writing out a basic training plan that I'm following each day. We'll also be posting some training plans and linking you to all of our awesome drills here on Duello.TV.
Follow One of Our Courses. This is a great time to follow one of our courses. The fundamentals courses and our new Premium courses all include training plans for each lesson. Be sure to check them out!
I'm looking forward to seeing all of you on Facebook and training alongside you throughout the month of January!

Nanjing, China: A Weekend of Fencing, Museums, and Martial Exchange

I’ve just returned from Nanjing, China, where I had the pleasure of teaching a two-part seminar over the weekend. The first day took place at the Nanjing Wall Museum, and the second at Nanjing Axon Martial Arts. What made the experience especially meaningful was not only the quality of the hosting, but the quality of…

After an excellent final week in Taiwan, teaching workshops across Taipei and Taizhong and spending time with the growing Duello community, I returned home just in time to celebrate another major milestone: our very first Scholar (Blue Cord) exam in China. Plus, this week marked the launch of our new live online series on Sword…
